These are the most common Powerball number pairs and triples since Oct. 7, 2015, when the current 69-ball format began. 6 pairs share the top spot, each drawn together 15 times in 1,429 drawings: 3 and 16, 21 and 32, 37 and 44, 44 and 50, 52 and 64, 61 and 69. Any single pair would be expected about 6.1 times.

Top 5 triples
| Triple | Times drawn together |
|---|---|
| 1-3-13 | 4 |
| 2-12-65 | 4 |
| 6-35-36 | 4 |
| 7-15-36 | 4 |
| 12-20-21 | 4 |
A given triple would be expected only about 0.27 times. With 52,394 possible triples, a handful reaching 3 or 4 is exactly what chance produces.
Why do some pairs come up more often?
Every drawing produces 10 pairs, so 1,429 drawings have produced 14,290 pairs spread over 2,346 possibilities. Spread that unevenly by chance and some pairs pull ahead: the leaders here are about 2.5 times the average, while 3 pairs have never been drawn together at all.
That pattern is what a fair, random drawing looks like. A pair that has come up often is not more likely to come up again, and one that has never appeared is not “due.”
Has a Powerball combination ever repeated?
No. Since Oct. 7, 2015, no set of five white balls has been drawn twice, which is what the math predicts with 11,238,513 possible combinations.
Should you play popular pairs?
It won’t improve your odds: every combination has the same chance in every drawing. If you like to pick your own numbers, the one thing that can matter is sharing: combinations many people choose, such as birthdays (1 to 31) or patterns on the playslip, are more likely to split a prize with other winners.
